The Top Five Political Scandals of 2008
The top five political scandals for 2008 have nothing to do the wayward lifestyles of those whose names adorn the silver screen, or the self-destructing idols of the music world. The top five scandals of 2008 involve people of influence and power, whose decisions and actions have serious ramifications that affect us all. These top five scandals are brought to you by the politicians, political parties, and the propagandists who bring us the news.Scandal number 5 John Edwards - Democrat Presidential Candidate
From http://abcnews.go.com/blotter/Story?id=5441195&page=1John Edwards admitted to ABC News in an interview with Bob Woodruff Friday that he repeatedly lied about an extramarital affair with a 42-year old campaign employee.
From that same story, we learned that John Edwards told those lies as a Presidential Candidate for the Democrat Party. This self-absorbed, pretty-boy politician, demonstrated that he had no regard for his wife, his family, or the Democrat Party. That he would repeatedly betray and lie to his most precious alliances, is an indication of how little concern he must actually have for the least among us and our nation as a whole.
Scandal number 4 Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and the Mortgage Crisis
From http://www.tuscaloosanews.com/article/20081005/NEWS/810050277?Title=MY_TURN__President_Bush_s__administration_is_not_to_blame
On Sept. 30, 1999, The New York Times reported that Fannie Mae, under pressure from the Clinton administration, was easing credit requirements to increase home ownership rates among minorities and low-income consumers.
This entire mortgage crisis is a direct result of the Federal Government forcing banks to loan money to people who could not afford to pay it back. According to Todd Lowe’s article on the aforementioned web-site, this actually dates back to the Carter Administration and the establishment of the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA). That was the origin of a woeful pattern of extortion on banks, payoffs to community groups like ACORN, and kickbacks and positions to prominent (present day) members of the Democrat party.
Now those very same people (Barnie Frank, Chris Dodd, et.al.) who brought us this crisis are the ones entrusted to fix it for us. That is scandal in its purest form.Scandal number 3The Federal Bailout
Now this scandal is the fault of the Bush Administration, Treasury Secretary Paulson, and both houses of Congress. From http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20081116/OPINION03/811160301
Michelle Malkin writes : “Members of Congress who let themselves be bullied into switching their votes on the bailout should be experiencing the biggest case of buyers’ remorse in
U.S. history. They fell for what Nobel Prize-winning economist F.A. Hayek called “the fatal conceit” — the disastrous idea that a federal bureaucrat has the knowledge to do a better job than the private market in organizing and directing an economy. They gave unchecked power to a single government official without a clue.Wielding his enormous authority, Paulson is desperately throwing our money at banks in a futile attempt to convince them to lend. Instead, those banks are either hoarding the cash or acquiring more assets. In other words: Paulson is helping the banks that were “too big to fail” grow even bigger with taxpayer backing. Swell.”
Scandal number 2 The Republican Party (for their part in Scandals 3 and 4)They were eyewitnesses to the schemes and shenanigans of the Democrats abuse of power that led to the Mortgage crisis yet they stood by and let the Democrats blame it all on the failed policies of the Bush Administration. While they warned of an imminent financial catastrophe in the sacred halls of Congress, their inability and outright refusal to inform the public at large is inexcusable. See the article on http://www.tuscaloosanews.com/article/20081005/NEWS/810050277?Title=MY_TURN__President_Bush_s__administration_is_not_to_blame
The Republicans used to be the party of limited government and fiscal conservatism. Their endorsement of the most aggressive socialist takeover (Federal Bailout) of the free market is a grievous betrayal of The Constitution, Capitalism, and Conservatism. This is cause for immediate dismissal, and it would appear that is exactly what they will get!
Scandal number 1 The News Media One need only watch the video at http://www.howobamagotelected.com/ to realize how inept the mainstream media were in accurately and fairly reporting on the associates, tactics, and blunders of Barack Obama. Notice how many of these voters knew about Sarah Palin and her pregnant daughter, yet none of them knew about Bill Ayers, or Obama winning his first election by getting his three opponents kicked off the ballot. The news media as we know it today, is nothing short of the former
USSR’s government controlled newspaper - Pravda. They do the bidding, spinning, and covering for the Democrat Party under the pretense of being impartial journalists.
