Home-made Christmas Cards- a gift from the heart

Published by carlpaulino at 5:14 am under Holiday Edit This

It is so nice to receive a home-made Christmas card and with a couple of crafts items, you and your children can add a special touch to the ones you send out this year.
Buy a set of card stock blank cards and envelopes. You can buy these at Wal-Mart, Jo-Ann Fabrics or Oriental Trading Company online. At the dollar store, you can find glitter glue, Christmas foam stickers that have adhesive backs and ink pads with Christmas stamps. You can also find a bigger variety of embellishments at Michaels.
Sit down with your family and compile a list of people to mail cards to this year. Think of  not only friends and relatives but also neighbors, co-workers, missionaries etc. You may want to add shut-ins in your community and soldiers.  Get a book or two of stamps before starting your project.
Take a family picture or use the kids’ school pictures to tuck in the card. You may even want to type one page about what your family has done this last year to add to the inside of the card.
The older children can write a Christmas Greeting on the outside of the card, while the younger children in assembly line fashion can embellish the inside of the card. Mom can address the cards and put them in the envelopes. Make sure everyone signs the card.

Another nice touch would be to pick up some room spray that smells like pine, balsam fir or cinnamon. From a distance, spray the cards so that when they are opened they smell like Christmas.
The children can decorate with stickers or ink- stamp impressions the back of the envelope too.
